SIGNING OF THE PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE LOCAL MATERIALS PROMOTION AUTHORITY (MIPROMALO) AND THE UNITED NATIONS PROGRAM FOR HUMAN SETTLEMENTS (UN-HABITAT).

Under the theme “it all starts at home: local actions for sustainable cities and communities”, UN-Habitat’s twelfth edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), held in one of Africa’s largest cities and the Capital of Egypt. Cairo played host to over twenty four thousand participants from one hundred and eighty two Countries across the globe who, answered present at Egypt’s International Exhibition Center. The highlight of WUF-12,centered on its opening ceremony, ministerial sessions, dialogue sessions, networking events, urban cinema, urban exhibition and closing ceremony, just to mention a few.
The Cameroonian delegation led by the MINHDU Boss, Mrs. Celestine KETCHA COURTES, was highly represented with personalities from CFC, FEICOM, MAETUR, MIPROMALO, SIC, CVUC, CTDS, and Civil Societies, who in their various capacities discussed the question of access to decent and affordable housing with particular interest to the situation in Cameroon.
Most importantly, to immortalize the activities marking WUF-12, a partnership agreement was signed between UN-Habitat represented by Mr. OUMAR SYLLA, Director for Africa’s Regional Office and MIPROMALO, represented by Dr. LIKIBY BOUBAKAR, Director General for MIPROMALO. The major aspects centered on resource mobilization, implementation of practical steps for the valorization of local materials and low carbon innovative materials in the construction sector.
